Balrath/Flemingstown:

A Management Plan – 2005/2014 – has been agreed and
signed by Coillte Teo., Forest Service, Balrath Woods
Preservation Group and members of Meath County County
Council. Small groups of mature trees close together
will be felled, to open up ‘coupes’ within the widest
portions of the wood. Regenerating invasive exotic
species will be felled to waste. Coillte’s ecologist
will visit the site as felling operations are in
progress, to monitor protection of sensitive areas.
Trees suitable as Bat roosts have been marked for
special attention. This work will commence early in
2008.
